Statue of the Virgin Mary covered in moss

I took this photo in 2015-2016 in Galveston, Texas. The city of Galveston means a lot to me because my parents took me there for years. It was essentially the cheapest beach close by. We spent a few days there eating amazing seafood and exploring. I spent a whole day walking around taking photos at the beach, in a cemetary, a church and in abandoned buildings. This one stuck out to me the most because I love texture and portraits.

Towards the end of 2016 I entered a school distict wide art competition, called VASE, that had 9th grade to 12th graders competing. I was amongst some really talanted artists, sculptures and photographers. People were also allowed to enter multiple pieces they made but I didnt know that and just submitted this one. Out of hundreds of kids photos in my grade level I got 1st place in the competition.

I put this photo on my photography portfolio and I was able to land a job taking of photos of furniture and pillows then later editing them on photoshop for a warehouse. Sometimes Id be in the main warehouse driving a forklift or loading and unloading shipping containers but I really loved the photo experience. Today I still take photos for a club on campus called Nerdfighters at Texas State and my photos have also been used in magazines.
